the Pugilist

(c)2004 Elton Houck. This piece is a two faced papermachie and wood sculpture. One side is the face of the boxer and the other of his girl. the image is painted with acrylic paint and coated with acrylic gel medium. The janus faces are mounted on a heavy wooden spindle. The complete work is 8" X 4" x 4". The face of the fighter shows his battle scars and the face of his girl her desperate hope that he will not be beaten again and suffer injury and humiliation. She had a desperate look of hope and faith on her face and gleaming from her eyes.

such a beautiful text that you have done, I am used to where we deal with two faces where one is a hyproctire and the other is a calm face.. But what you did is original like love.. something sweet.. it is to indicate how a woman have deep love for the man who is in struggle...
