In its own habitat, the African Elephant is perhaps the most revered beast in the kingdom. It is also known for its massive elegance and gentle nature. Looming in the mist, the egrets give scale to this giant. Viewed as an endangered species, the elephant is hunted mercilessly by poachers for the ivory tusks.

Excellent work and great words, John. You have captured the magnificence and presence of an incredible animal. How could anyone ever kill an animal such as this solely for its tusks?

Artist Reply: thankyou lovely Fiona for dropping by my gallery in cyberspace... wish I had the real thing so I coul entertain all my friends and collectors. That would be both fun and timeconsuming though.
