This is a 29"x41" watercolor that was a commissioned work. It is the corner of Washington and Warren Strs. in Syracuse New York not far from Clinton Square and The Syracuse City Hall. The 20th Century Ltd actually passed through Syracuse and traveled down the center of Washington Street. The work was commissioned by Michael McComsey and he asked for number of unique automobiles including a Chrysler Airflow, a vintage Cord, a 1938 Buick, and a 1927 Chevrolet bob-tail stake truck. This is one of my favorite railroad scenes because of the unusual appearance of a massive New York Central J-Class locomotive working its way through the downtown of a major American city.

Talk about an impact! I used to live near Syracuse, many years too late I'm afraid, and would dream of seeing the mighty Hudsons rolling through downtown. I'd stand where the tracks once ran, close my eyes, and imagine the days gone by. This painting made the dream real. I know the time, the place, and the feeling. Thank you, thank you, thank you!John Cappello 09 Apr 2009
