i agree with terry bassett on this one. i think if you add to the background it would just clutter it up and distract from your focal point. you have such incredible detail in the face and truely, nothing more is needed.

Very nice pen and ink Chris.. just a personal opinion, but I quite like the plain background.. seems to accentuate the detail in the image..
