Summer Red Rose Day

I'm missing the bright summer days when the roses are in full bloom and the air is sweet with the scent of roses. This is a rose I painted on such a day, so that in the dreary winter days I can remember that time will bring back the summer red roses again. This was painted by hand using a Wacom art tablet and wireless stylus pen. It attaches to your computer. I used Painter IX software to pain this. I used mostly air brushes and some pastels with blenders to make this painting. It is not a manipulated photo of a rose. I started with a blank canvas/screen. I will be adding more roses as I finish them. I like to take my time and go back and relook at my work after a while to see it with fresh eyes. It helps me to create a better painting.

Beautiful imagery Terry :)

Artist Reply: Thank you! I worked on the rose as the center point, so less details on the background leaves. Spotted my citris trees starting to bloom. It will smell wonderful around a week from the blossoms. It will hold me until the roses bloom.

A wonderful floral!

Artist Reply: Thank you! My roses are starting to get new growth from pruning them. I'm impatient for them to bloom. They will be by the end of the month, as well will be the many rose gardens I like to visit. I will be taking photos again for my own stock images for paintings, and with a better camera I now own, have photos of quality to post in my gallery as well. Meanwhile, longing for the scent of roses in the air.
