Vincent Van Gogh

My name is Jerry Stith and an Founder of a new American Folk art program called BallPoint Pen Art. A ballpoint pen is the most used writing or drawing instrument in history. Bic Pens just published that they have sold one hundred billion pens. My BallPoint Pen Art program is introducing the ballpoint pen as a new art medium to this world because it is the largest undeveloped art medium in history! Pen and Ink has been around fore about four thousand years and the ballpoint is the most popular or sold pen of all pens.***** I have thirteen sites or slide shows published worldwide and that accounts for about seven million bytes of art, stats, facts or materials related to what a ballpoint pen has or can do. My network of sites currently have about thirty-five different ballpoint pen artists published and three of us are now with Artwanted.com. I am published with around fifty different search engines and also show up on Image or Picture results with most meta-search engines! That means, I am published more than all other ballpoint pen artists in history via the WWW!***** I personally have more sketches, drawings, tip sizes; colors and styles published worldwide than any others ballpoint pen artists in history via the Web. I did pencil drawings for five years before upgrading to ink! I switched over to ink because it was far more of a challenge, adventurous or exciting. I do not trace or use any other mediums in order to complete my drawings and consider those that do wimps as an ink artist. I am from the old school of thought and therefore consider drawing as the backbone of great art. My all time hero is Albrecht Durer because of his superb or spectacular line work.***** This multi-colored ballpoint pen drawing is of Vincent Van Gogh whom is my favorite Impressionist. I love his style, colors and impressions of life that are today one of the most valued in history. This colored ink drawing is a tribute to Van Gogh and impressionism that he and others established in history. I certainly hope that everyone viewing this drawing supports him by responding accordingly. I would like to thank ArtWanted and all others for the awards and large amounts of visits to my drawings this year. May God bless each and everyone of you!

David Holcombe 01 Apr 2006

This is one of the icons of the art world. The problem is that he is so famous, that everyone knows what he looks like. I tried a Van Gogh and had what I thought was a good likeness and still got static about it. Oh well. It the world of artistic tributes, it is the thought that counts. The blue and red in the beard and the intense background are very Van Goghish. Take care.
