Some years the Carbon River road is washed out, causing them to close it for repairs. In Jan. 2006 the washout was like never before....or not in recent history anyway (future photos). This caused us to park at the entrance and walk in to see what was up. Because we weren't speeding past, we saw places and things that we hadn't seen before. Sometimes it pays to slow down a little....

This is a breath-taking photo, Mary! I can only imagine what it was like to actually be there! So much vegetation looks as how I would have pictured the beginning of time to look!! ^_^
