Western Anemone

There are so many varieties of flowers in the mountains....they are all delightful!!! Please forgive me for not knowing the names of all the flowers that I will be sharing. My small flower book doesn't contain all of the flowers that we run across. I will be showing the flower and the surroundings each time I submit photos. I hope that you will enjoy this series... :) This is one that is in the book. The Western Anemone is one of the first flowers that appear as the alpine snows begin to melt and patches of soil are exposed to the sun. The second photo was taken on the same day, opening day at Sunrise Visitor Center, mid-June, in 2004. This year opening day will not be until mid-July, if we are lucky, the snow pack is 125% of normal. Can't wait until we can get up there.... :)
