low rise sushi table

For this table I started with the top. The top is made from 14 pieces of curly cottonwood burl. All book matched and fitted together to make the grain flow like water. I then built the surrounds which I inlayed a strip of black walnut to accent and give separation between the top and surrounds. The legs are my own design by crossing kind of a Queen Anne style with a Ming style. I really enjoy this leg design as it really draws attention with their flowing curves and sharp peeks on the inside. All the wood used to make this table is local. The trees had been discarded to make room for urban expansion. I Milled this wood and dried it for 3 years
