Under water impressions

I manupulated a photograph of a fish and a photograph of a the bottom of an aquarium with pottery, where fishes swim in and out. I made lyers of both of the photographs. Put them together and worked after that with a lot of filters and tools of Photoshop and PhotoImpact. Related to this artwork I have had a discussion with my sister Daisy. The main point is: Do you need a focus point?" and "Do you have to know what the main subject in the artwork is?". I think that it is anot always neccessary. I think you also can create a kind of dream worls. A worls that gives you impressions of a colorful undersea world. You don't exactly what there is but you can imagine.... Please let me know how you feel about this even if you don't like it at all. Image copyright: Thea Walstra

Thea, I love this! And agree with you, of course, abstract is one of my favorite forms! :) The colors and patterns created by this image are fabulous! :)

Rita de Falussy 31 Aug 2006

Greatly done, and I think you are right. In abstract the best thing is when you evoke different images from the viewer. It might even clash with your own intention, or you never thought that someone sees "that" in your image, however, you give the title and with that you can steer your viewer perception of your intention. This is beautiful, and very clear what you wanted us to see here. Great job!

I love art and photography when I can use my imagination to project the images I see since we all see something different and that difference makes viewing the art a unique experience. I use a lot of projective imagery in my photos which is very teliing about the person as in the work of Hermann Rorschach and his famous Rorschach. I love the blue swimmer in the upper right corner who is entering your magical undersea world.

In case of the medium digital and style/catagory abstract, there is no such limitation, you can go everywhere, but one thing to remember, abstract always need a proper description about artist's thought.Sometimes you have to provide with texts for web,but in live shows most of the time artist face so many questions from visiters directly and we love to answer them, there always a wonderful feeling to interact with visiters directly and ofcourse the title is very important becoz, title says about work .You can put an abstract title to a traditional/realistic/surealistic work, but you have to put a appropiate title for a abstract work.Post is going lenghthy, thanks for sharing.Beautiful work, lovely colors, fantastic technique.
