Provence (2006)

This is a small (16 x 20) painting of a village in Provence. I used it as a background for a former painting of Vincent Van Gogh. I just liked the colors and composition of the photo. It also reminded me of Professor Sonnier, a parasitology teacher at the Catholic U. of Louvain. He was an excellent teacher, but also a fine painter who did astonishing scenes of Southern France.

Hello David! This is a fabulous painting full of vivid colours and spontaneity. Love the splashes of bright sunlight on the strip of wheat which divides the painting somehow and leads the viewer's eye to the village nearby, nestling in the shadow of the blue mountain. Brilliant atmosphere of a heat filled mediterranean landscape. Love it!

Oh my, I do love it, David. The complementary colors and the stand of golden wheat(?) in the middle just make it spendid to the eye.
