Fall to Winter

These photos were taken in late October of 2004, at 4400 ft. On this day the road was open from the main gate to the White River Campground....the gate to the upper elevations of Sunrise had been closed for a couple of weeks. There are only a few deciduous trees at this elevation, but the one that you do see in brilliant yellow is the Cottonwood. As you can see in the first photo, the winter snows are on their way.

Beautiful shots Mary. I like how the stream is frozen over, and those white mountains make an amazing backdrop.
