Beauty

detail shots: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/47210367/ *drops dead* omg.. finished. Yay! Damn. A LOT of detail is lost by only uploading the picture halfsize. Makes the stars look funny. I had tiny ones and all kinds of other fine details that don't show up now. I might upload some close up shots later. This picture is the first I've done for myself since about September. The rest have been commissions or gifts for family, or nothing at all. I just had to do a picture for myself before I could continue, you know? I challenged myself with this picture. Especially since it was the first of 2007, so it was going to pave the way for if I would be good or bad with art this year. This picture is way different than the original sketch (which can be found in scraps). Why? Because I decided to go a whole new direction. I usually do that when I sketch something.. I end up redoing it all. :P This picture I experimented doing a lot of new techniques and stuff so I hope everything looks alright. ^^; I even used a program I've not used in a while to do a painting. Photoshop! But no, I didn't filter anything and everything. I hate when people do that. lol ZOMG LENS FLARE! TEXTUREZZ! =_= For those wondering.. Yes, the stars I did myself, it's not a background found online. It's fairly easy to do I found out. :D Yes, I did most of the dress patterns myself. Also, what brushes used I made myself, so no, they are not available online for download. I made them specificly for this image. I wasn't following any traditional guideline when it came to the dresses overal design and keeping with any particular Asian culture. It's my own design that I thought looked neat. :P Same with the hairstyle. On the lantern it has the kanji for "Beauty" (Bi). Hmm, I think that's all for this picture. If you wanna know anything else, let me know. I was going to make a tutorial out of parts of the picture but I decided against it due to experimentation. There is still a whole lot I see I don't like, but maybe it's just me seeing flaws that arent there or arent that big a deal due to staring at it for so long, at twice the size shown here. Time Taken: Sketch: Unknown, can't remember Color: Off and on for 3-4days. Tools Used: Sketch: Open Canvas (see scraps section) Color: Photoshop Not original size. If there is an interest, I may do a full size print. (signed w/out digital signature). Email me for details. [email protected]
