I met this mom and her little girl on the beach last summer in Maine. It was the perfect time of day and they even wore coordinated clothing, so it was just a matter of catching the right pose. I think this painting says quite a bit and I was anxious to complete it. I chose to add some elements, like the rocks to make for a more interesting composition.

Simply beautiful as usual :) I am still just amazing that this is done in pastels, especially the water! You'll have to write that book!

Artist Reply: At some point I plan on putting a "how to" book together, perhaps even for online downloading. I'd be interested to hear if others reading this would be willing to purchase something like this and what price they'd be willing to pay?
