My first pictures taken with Sony DSCF717.This was the first time I have seen wild horses on a road trip with my mother to eastern Orgon. I hope it won't be the last time I see horse running free...

Love it. Some people think you have to follow some sort of rules when you take a photo... well you don't! you have done a wonderfull job with this, it's different, nice colours, horses running away from the rules, from people that don't know freedom, and want them to pose. The thing is Nicole that everybody has an opinion, just remember that it's only worth what YOU rate the person who shared it wit you.

A Dahl.. You are absolutely right, and i can sling mud as good as the next guy, but this guy is just an , well poor critic, he took it one step further then went to my portfolio and said stuff that just wasnt very helpful, I could really care less if he doesnt like my stuff maybe it just doesnt apeal to him, and others as well ,I see some art that doesnt appeal to me .and sure I am bias. I also want her to know the diff. between how to critique well, and what would be considered bad manners while critiqueing. She is tough, and it really didnt seem to faze her, I was just surprised at how rude he seems, maybe if I see more involvement from him in forums and on the critique area I might see ,and understand his ideas, and helpful advice but I feel he has a lot to say, and nothing to show.I believe my grandfather would call this guy " All hat, and no cattle"

I'd call it "horse clusters- a study in asymmetry". I can respect the biased opinion of a mother, but I think a good lesson to be learned here is to roll with the critisism. It's just one person's opinion. The previous rater may hate horses and this picture evoked an emotional response. They may be tired of horse pictures. Maybe he slipped in horse poop and soiled his best Sunday suit- I can't say for sure. I do think that critisism should be constructive, but sometimes all you can muster is "more horses arses". Nicole, I think with some study of balance and angle you should do fine. Besides, Mary probably would be a fine mentor in this area- being a photographer too. Remember, when someone slings mud, catch it, dry it, and whip it back- I think that's what my mom said. Maybe she said, "duck!". Anyway, you have a nice country side there.
