Pam's Tulips

My sister-in-law has some beautiful silk tulips at her house. I had thought they were real when I spotted them. I took some reference photos so I could paint them. I had been visiting her, the light was shining through her front door, and was perfect for this still life painting. This is not a photoshopped or manipulated photo. I used Corel's Painter IX.5 art software and a Wacom an electronic graphics tablet that comes with a wireless stylus pen. It allows you to draw/paint/hand write as if you are holding a pen/marker/brush/pastel/ pencil/etc. instead of using a mouse. The art program allows you to pick the medium, such as watercolors, colors, brush and brush size, pressure of stroke, blend, & transparency. You can adjust like a photo editing program would do the brightness, etc. I used watercolors, pastels, chalks, and blender brushes to create this digital paint. It took me many long hours to paint this work, with all the color glazes layered and blended together. I don't always have the time to work on one like this, as it can be quite painful with my arthritis and my hands are a bit wobbly. Still, when I do get determined to do a more detailed painting, in the end I am happy that I got it done as I envisioned it. Often I work on these paintings in stages, and store them in jpeg files until I'm ready to work on them some more. I hope you like Pam's beautiful flowers as much as I do.

Artist Reply: Thanks you Andrew! I would enjoy paint one of your flower photos. Do you have one in mind? If not, I'll go peek and see if one is calling my name to paint.

Beautiful job!

Artist Reply: Thank you John, this one helped me figure out how to use more watercolors. I'm just learning to do them with real materials, and mixing color on this painting helped me learn to handle them better.

this is beautiful I love the orange.

Artist Reply: Thanks Michael! I used to hate to paint with orange and reds. Too vivid and showy. LOL! What was I thinking? I love those colors now, and lots of my works have them in it.

Wow Terry amazing image love it!!

Artist Reply: Thanks Samina! I often look at things with an artistic eye as I pass. I've learned to drag around my camera. Sometimes it's the lighting, the color or shape of something. With flowers, they are always something I love to see. I keep my own stock photos so I can browse for reference. I want to have them ready when I'm in the mood to paint.

Stunning art, Terry!! The composition is beautiful!

Artist Reply: Thanks Annette! Flrals are so enchanting. I could sit in a garden, minus the bothersome insects, all the time enjoying it. Still planning how to layout and build a large garden when we get moved to Colorado. Have to wait a year, but will dream in the meanwhile.
