My life outside AW

(c)2008 Armando Salas ---- Although I already said "good bye" I wish to share this wonderful news with the few friends I still have here. Yesterday I was at the Museum of Humor at Fene, the place where I got my International Curuxa de Honra award two years ago. A Tv team ( TVE-Televisión Española and TVG-Televisión de Galicia) went there to record an interview. Yes, I was interviewed :-) for "Desde Galicia para el Mundo" (From Galicia to the World). This program will be broadcasted on next December 8 through the International Channels of TVE and TVG, and the same program will be repeated every day during that week. Perhaps -not sure- TVG will include it in its normal programs. The interview was recorded in two languages: Spanish and Galician (I had to speak twice:-) I hadn't a photographer to take shots during the interview :-( but I took few shots there (museum, exhibitions...). If I manage my time, I'll post few photos in my blog in the next days. When I'll get the DVD, I'll try to upload it to Youtube (although you'll not understand my speeches, at least you'll hear my wonderful voice:-))) Upper photo: The museum has a huge stair, really huge. There is a Galician man (emigrant) holding a suitcase. Emigration was a sad reality in my country during the past century. But the real meaning is "El gallego en la escalera" (Galician man on stairs). Galician people was always very poor and illiterate. Untrustful people as well because of endless abuses. When you'll meet a Galician man on stairs, he'll be stopped; you'll never know if he's going up or down. This is his way to not demonstrate his intention. Self defense. Bottom photo: Recording my poster-tribute to Anna Politkovskaya at library. All the best to you, my friends.--------------------------------------------- TV broadcast "Desde Galicia para el Mundo" - Televisión de Galicia. Spain.------- I must say, when I converted the video file to .avi format the sound lose quality. Of course I've a WONDERFUL voice :-))))

Congrats Armando, you get what you deserved! So, I am so happy for you. Nice your writing about Galician paople! Once I was in Galicia and found out people are poor there, there was a sad feeling. It was near the coast at Ribeira. ( in 2000)

Artist Reply: Thank you very much for your kind comment, Annette. Luckily, Galicia isn't the same nowadays. I was at Ribeira once, 40 years ago:-) I went there from Villagarcia by ship (really, a speed boat) property of a friend. When we arrived there, we were inspected by Guardia Civil (militar police) because of a lot of contraband in this area (then, only tobacco; nowadays, drugs:-(((
