Bridge Over Claude Monet's Water Lily Pond Giverny

This is one of the bridge's over Claude Monet's Water Lily Pond in Giverny, France. When my daughter & I were in Paris, France, we spent an afternoon at Claude Monet's house, gardens and water lily ponds in Giverny. I took lots of photos and have since painted many paintings using my photos. Did you know that Claude Monet created his water lily pond so that he could paint it? This painting is sold.

More than just a simple bridge, You've captured an environment. If Monet created the pond so he could paint it, its the ultimate in setting a stage with props. One might say the pond for the sake of art, is a work in itself.

So nice to see a well known bridge interpreted in a new and very personal way. The spotlighting of the bridgelight and reflection on the water are fab.

Gina Cowins 17 May 2008

Sharon you're a renowed artist that's for sure

Peter McPartlin 17 May 2008

You have taken this most famous of paintings and made it your own.Wonderful well done

Artist Reply: Thank you, Peter. This IS my own Painting. I took the photo from which I painted this. Actually I've not ever seen a Monet painting like this at all. Usually he painted the other bridge, and I've painted that one also, but from my own photo and NOT from any of Claude Monet's paintings. I appreciate your input. Have a great day, Sharon

Well this is another of my favorite places. It was awesome to stand there and create art in the garden's he created. So glad to see you love it too. I never tire of the wonder of his art and his inspring gardens. My painting I did there is one of my favorites. Nice painting Sharon and Happy Creating. We have much to inspire us.

Emily Reed 11 May 2008

I DO LOVE YOUR MONET INTERPRETATION, SHARON! HIS JAPANESE GARDENS WERE SO LOVELY, AND YOU PAINT IT SO IN KEEPING WITH HIS STYLE~ HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Artist Reply: Actually, Emily, this is not an interpretation of Claude Monet. This is my own painting in my own style from a photo I took of Claude Monet's water lily pond bridge in Giverny, France. Actually, there are a few bridges over parts of his Very large water lily ponds. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. Take care, Sharon

Nice photo. Poor Monet was nearly blind from cataracts when he painted many of his famous water lily series. I must confess that his paintings are more beautiful than the original. But that's the transforming magic of art, n'est-ce pas?
