Kim's Portrait

Hey everyone. This one was something a lot different from me. I've been wanting to try one of these for a few years and just never got to it until now. I was recently inspired after seeing Lacey Lewis' Monochrome Self Portrait that she did. Anyways, This drawing was done on tinted paper with graphite and white colored pencil. I've always loved the way drawings look on tinted paper. I think they look really classical and artistic. This paper was something new to me. I asked Lacey what kind of paper she used and bought the same kind. The paper is Strathmore 500 series Charcoal for those who care. It is a lot thinner and has a lot more tooth than I am used to. But I like the way graphite lays down on it. It's a lot easier to get dark tones because of the texture. This drawing was really fun to do. I will be doing a lot more of these hopefully in the future. 12"x18" Stathmore 500 Series Graphite and Colored Pencil Blending stumps and tissues 15 hours

You did a fabulous job on her portrait, Brian. I love the way you rendered her hair, especially the curls over her shoulder on the left side of the picture.
