Mourning Dove

This little Dove blended into the landscape so well, I almost missed seeing her. They are named for their cooing, and live mostly in farmland, open woods, and semi-deserts. Their wings have black spots and are pink below. Both parents sit on the nest and feed the nestlings. Photo by Sharon Lee. Copyright 2009

Doves are so soft and there is tremendous beauty in their feathers...even tints of irridescent blues and rose colors. You succeeded in catching some of it here, too. Great shot, Sharon!
