Jasra paused in mid step at the
first sign she may not be alone
on this strange planet fall.
Everything seemed to hush as
she waited, fingers posed near
the handle of her weapon, a
comforting weight of metal
strapped to her right thigh.
She had waited so long that
the ripples around her boots
had quieted back to the glassy
surface of what passed as
water here. Moving just her
eyes she scanned her
surroundings for danger.
Momentarily glancing up at the
pumpkin colored sky she
absently noted that it's sad, but true...
that nothing rhymes with
orange...
