This acrylic painting was inspired by a documentary focusing on the archeology of an early human species called Homo Naledi. They found marks on the caves of the Homo Naledi which were almost identical to ones drawn by Homo Sapiens nearly three hundred thousand years later. It is a reflection on why some symbols or marks are repeated across time and what this connection in meaning and symbols may be revealing about our collective unconsciousness or about being human. An important discovery they found was that this early human species Homo Naledi also buried the dead. This demonstrates perhaps a belief in spirituality by these early humans or perhaps a deep connection and love of family.
