Reconstructed Portraits

I collected random offcuts of MDF from the uni 3D workshop, and worked out a composition for them. I then painted different sections of different people's faces to create this distorted image. The pieces of wood overlap. I was inspired by the Cubists and and Frank Stella. I primed the MDF with white emulsion. It was fun! I want to do this sort of thing again! Although it scares my mum... Made in the late spring/early summer of 2007.

Hi Kellie :) I agree with your mom that the image might be a bit scary. But I love it and look forward to seeing more.

My favorite from your gallery! Have you tried this with photos?

Artist Reply: Thanks Chip! I haven't actually, but that's a brilliant idea! I may have to try that now :D
