Protraits of Familiar People is based on our experience of people we see daily in the advertising media and because of their visual familiarity, we feel we have some relationship with them. It's a type of relationship that did not exit until modern advertising. The painting employs three short line to form a mouth and nose in the middle of the image that transforms the otherwise abstract elements that comprise the image.
