In reality it was all an evil plot to draw out the multi powers needed to rule the universe by the originator of the tournament, Omnicron. In reality, he did not have the power to reshape the universe, though he is immensely powerful. by creating the tournament and prize, he hoped to lure out the greed within the individuals who possessed the powers he needed to obtain for himself to be able to reshape the universe in his vision. The most important being the Time Gem stolen from Anubis. but another would prove to be the Spiritual Mind which Bantron had grown to possess. Omnicron himself had infinite Power, and the Sword of Altra was perhaps the power of Creation as it was a living weapon. still sorting it all out really.
