The Orphan of Zhao

It's a Chinese musical, which I hope I could watch someday. The story dated back to about 700 BC and the first theater adaptation was in the 13th century. It's about a man who sacrificed his own son's life to save another infant, the last living soul of a slaughtered family. Then the boy grew up and took revenge on the murderer and his family, which caused another massacre. The piece showcases the kind of moral or value, which I really don't understand. It would be interesting to see how it is adapted to a modern audience. Besides, there is one lyric that really caught my ear. It sings by the rescued boy: "Life treats everyone the same, and also death serves everyone the same." I just think of the song in "Hamilton", "Death doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saint."
