As a kid I was fascinated by the idea that through the power of will and hypnotism, someone could control another person. It was only as I matured that I discovered that threat and intimidation via someone in a supervisory position was how it happened really. No power of will and no hypnotic skills. Just the ability to make you unemployed at the snap of their fingers. This is a 7.5 by 5.25 inches gel pen with color pencil drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. It's another 'new' piece from a guy who calls himself Original Jones Art here in the northwest suburbs of Austin, Texas.

So, the evil character, Svengali in prison garb, finally comes out for the new year, ,…the dark side of Charles, the jagged arrow pointing down his face to his next victim!! Great sketch!

Artist Reply: Well, you could very well be correct, Mark, though I'm not sure I have a truly evil side. But, that being said, I'll bet most of the folks history has deemed such didn't view themselves that way. Stalin, for instance, probably viewed himself as an old misunderstood softie. Thanks! Hope all is going according to expectations for the New Year---which is already growing its first peach fuzz. :)

Really like the textural feel to this . Nice work Charles . Also I couldn't escape its gaze , somehow telling me to press the like button ... but I was going to do it anyway : )

Artist Reply: Another instance where the quick preliminary sketch is a different animal than the larger more colorful version, Dave. I'll go ahead and scan the preliminary so you can see the difference. And the primary 'reason' for the difference is the paper I used on each. One was thin and slick, the other, thick and semi-textured w/c paper. Each took the ink differently and I felt I had to go the way of the paper on the second. Thanks! :)
