A Baby Camel Watching the Birth of A Unicorn Bird

Oil on Canvas, 30"x30"
Year: 2002-2003

This painting has a unique history. It was started in the year of 2002, which was not the easiest. And even the good emotions of that year were more like a "caged fire" that found its reflection in the painting depicting the sphere of caged fire floating in the endless sea with some other allegories which better not to disclose. The work on the painting was moving along very slow, several months have passed, then a year... One day I unexpectedly (I am not an early morning person) woke up in predawn hours and the painting looked so differently in the still deem light that it hit me - this painting is not me... the sea is good, but cage has to go and I started to paint right away - in a few hours the caged fire was transformed into a newly born Unicorn bird and a Baby camel has appeared on a side... If you see closer you can also notice the shape of the mother-bird in the top right corner with her wings stretched.. And something else has transformed - my life started to improve. I don't know what lead to what, but I will always cherish this painting as a symbol that changes to the best are always around the corner, but you have to change something to the best yourself to show that you are welcoming them... I still keep the photograph of the initial painting as a reminder of that magic metamorphoses. You can view that photo on my web site.

Thank you to everyone for viewing my work.
