Solidarity - 25 years later

Twenty-five years ago, Solidarity, the first independent trade union was born in Poland. On 14 August, political and economic tensions spilled over in the town of Gdansk. Workers went on strike in the Lenin shipyard, beginning a summer of discontent. It would go on to fuel the break up of communist block, the fall of the Berlin wall and unification. The trademark red and white colors became a symbol of resistance now know all over the world.
