Trust Me

(c)1971 Elton Houck ink and felt tip markers on 6" X 13" cardboard. This one shows the Circus/Sideshow barker...the Mississippi River Boat Gambler, the "Snake Oil" salesman, the fast talking, fast walking womanizing, cheating, lying scroundrel that is the basic fly in the ointment, the flaw in the fabric, and is to our shame one of our relatives of which we try to pretend that he is not a legitimate member of our own clan....It's cousin Joe, or Uncle Harry, or Brother Sammy... We hang our heads and turn away, but alas when pressed we must reply "Yes he is family!"

ELTON HOUCK subway art. pop, abstract, outsider artist
