At 2005's Renaissance Faire, as part of the 25th anniversary, I offered to cut silhouettes in either the American or European style. This wonderful pirate happily came to have a silhouette done. This is more the European style, cut with razor blades. The original was created September 2005 and was about 5"x7" and mounted/matted to 8"x10." What fun! I had never done silhouettes until the ones I tried that season.
