The Nest

I took a look in the Carolina Wren nest in a hanging basket in the yard, and found some new hatchlings! They are a day or two old. The eggs were so small, they looked like jelly beans. I didn't think I could get a shot of them since the opening to the nest is about the size of a golf ball. After 40 shots, I got a pretty decent one. All together there are four little ones!

What a find! Amazing those scrawny little featherless babies turn into such pretty birds.

Oh, so cute.......and apparently very hungry. I think you did an excellent job of capturing this tiny piece of animal history with all the more space you had to work with. Jellybean-sized eggs, huh? My goodness. It makes you wonder how something so tiny and immature could thrive in this old world, doesn't it? Awesome shot Shawn!
