A Pica

This little guy is very hard to get a picture of. Pikas are very quick and never far from shelter. They live in rockfalls and you see them running everywhere. They make the sound of a dog's squeeky toy and are the size of large apple. I can't take the credit for this shot. My daughter hikes ahead of me, and rather than move past her and scare him off, I passed her the camera instead. She said I could share it anyway. On this day there were two gentlemen with large-lens cameras parked 20 ft. apart along the trail trying to photograph these little guys. They were there on our way in to Palisades Lakes and there on our way out 3 hours later. Someday maybe I will have the patience to stay in one spot all day....maybe not... :)

Yeh, it is kind of like "Where's Waldo?" They sure are cute! When are you hoping to get back to the mountains?

Artist Reply: Hi Lauren, We are in the mountains EVERY week, sometimes twice. The difference between you and us is that we spend the day.... you spend the week (or more). I envy your escapes but thoroughly enjoy mine. Your mountain flower photos were amazing!!! Thanks so much for visiting my site!! :)
