Did I mention that the avalanche lilies were everywhere at Summit Lake? They are one of my favorite flowers because of the abundance. They start breaking thru the snow when it is 2-3 inches deep and survive in the very wet soil as the snow melts. When the snow is gone and the ground starts to dry out, the avalanche lilies disappear, but many other flowers take their place.
