When I painted this image I was reading Dante's Inferno. I wanted to capture what it would be like to visit the "Lake of Fire" (Rev. 21:8, Rev.20:14) Rev.20:15 "And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." I show an angel taking a man on this tour. Satan is peering over the edge of the boat side while the rest of his snake like body wraps its way around the fallen souls. These souls, still defiant and unrepentant, blame God for their misery.

Great work James! The lake of fire is especially striking. You've made it a horrible place. But sadly, souls in Hell would gladly trade for the mind place you've depicted. Keep up the good work! theodasChristine brand 31 Aug 2006
