My inspiration for this painting came from 3 similar green candles that I have on a shelf in the bathroom. Every time I look at them I think they would make a nice painting, so I decided to do it as soon as I could! Using acrylic paints, I sponged the background and used watered down acrylics for the candle wax dripping down the sides of them. I also added the smoke effect as though these candles have just been blown out, which I liked the look of. I painted them on an acrylic board, which is now framed in a very ornate gilt moulding, chosen specifically to enhance the richness of the piece.
