Snowy Cataract Creek

(Nov. 2004 Carbon Glacier Trail.) Before you reach the suspension bridge, you have to cross Cataract Creek. During heavy rains and snowmelt, this creek runs more like a river and can be very loud as it cascades over the rocks. This photo shows it at mid-volume, I've seen it higher and lower, but the strange thing is that the snow muffles the sound. It's as if I was wearing earmuffs....that's right, I was. But I do remember lifting them to hear the real sounds. The second photo shows the footbridge crossing this creek. It's more dangerous and scarier than the suspension bridge when there is 4 inches of packed snow on it. :)

Snowfall.. it makes nature feel different. When I look at this picture it does more then only crossing a stream... It tells with all those rocks inside that also you can change your stream

If I look real hard I can imagine hearing the running water, Mary! Also that bridge looks very daunting!! ^_^

I like the contrast of the snow and rocks on this one.
