A Young Boy's Dream

I found this delightful memory on Father's day when our son was four years old. The question was what can I give Daddy for father's day? An art piece accompanied the answer. Kevin's answered, "Some fresh chicken to cook with, salad utensils and me. Also some fresh juice. That's all!" Love Kevin. This was a prophetic wish since 21 years later he has graduated from the French Culinary Institute in NYC and has followed his young boyhood dream from his pre-school days to become a certified chef. Although his menu has expanded with wonderful gourmet meals, his passion never waned from the early days of his life when he followed his father's passion who opened a restaurant and catering business.

Beautiful, Julie! Stories like this are touching! I recently pulled out a Family Portrait drawing that I did when I was 9 or 10. 1973-4. So this had Mega effect with Me. I was going to put it on Artwanted but there inconsistancies ruined that idea! Thanks for sharing something Real, Julie! Hats off, to Kevin!

Artist Reply: Wonderful memories about your life can be the most interesting for viewers to enjoy. I think I have posted some others, but plan to scan other nostalgic photos that also make wonderful and touching stories about life and your special memories. Part of this group's appeal is getting to know the artists. In fact that is why they created the biography and blogs. I would love to see your drawing. I can't see why AW rules would have any inconsistencies to censor your family portrait. There is one member who posted his childhood drawings of his dreams that were so whimsical and interesting. I plan to post more of my favorite nostalgic images and have never had any negative feedback for doing so!!!
