LION NUDIBRANCH'S LAYING EGGS CALIFORNIA,MONTEREY BAY, OFF DILLION BEACH © 2004 geoffrey semorile The Lion Nudibranch is one of the larger species. They are about six inches long on average and almost completely translucent making them hard to photograph. In this image they are laying egg sacks on kelp leaves. The egg sacks are the white rosettes to the right. The Lion nudibranch is a filter feeder that collects small particles of food from the water with the umbrella like rear part of it's body. The area surrounded by small tentacales that aid in food collection.
