Yosemite Burn

An abstract acrylic ink painting inspired by a visit to the Yosemite National Park this summer. In certain areas of the Yosemite National Park, the rangers have controlled burns of the ponderosa pine trees. I thought the burnt out shapes of these trees were ideal for a painting set against an orange sky. I have deliberately let some of the black specks of ink splash against the sky area, in order to create the effect of burnt cinders floating in the sky. Date of completion: October 6th 2007
