This is #2 in "The Perfect Day" series. Nov. 4,2004..... At mile post 1 of this 2 mile hike to Summit Lake, you come upon a small lake and a juction in the trail; right goes to Bearhead Mtn., left goes to Summit Lake. We had been to Bearhead the summer before...a longer, steeper trail, but a beautiful hike to the top. Summit Lake is such a special place, we always take the trail to the left. I wish you could see in all these photos, the undisturbed snow is sparkling in the sun. We had this whole hike entirely to ourselves. The other thing about this day was the result of heavy snow in the trees and a 45 degree F afternoon. We were constantly being pelted with sometimes huge clumps of snow. Then there is also my devious daughter passing under a heavy bough and smacking it with her hiking pole as I follow behind....:0 More tomorrow, thanks for stopping by!! :)
