DRUM SOLO

JUVINILE DRUM FISH - CAYMAN ISLANDS LITTLE CAYMAN BLOODY BAY WALL------------------------------ I have found that if you take the time to watch and study natures creatures you will learn a great deal more about them and produce far better images that tell a story. This tiny juvenile drum fish not two inches tall from fin to fin is very shy and reclusive, most difficult to get good images of. I found this one on a reef called Bloody Bay Wall in Little Cayman. When I first tried approaching to get a shot it would disappear into the bottom flora. If I backed off it would come back. I watched it for some time and noticed that for some reason it kept returning to this one spot time and again. During one of its brief respites I settled on the bottom and stretched my camera out to full arms length taking care that the point of focus was exactly on the spot the fish came back to. I settled to the bottom and proceeded to wait. Sure enough it came back and was not disturbed by my presence, as I was still and not moving. I was able to shoot an entire roll of film of this lovely little fish at very close proximity.
