Yellow Rose and Apple

Surprisingly, I did this one while watching my friend's children...they hung around with me, painted and worked on their stuff while I painted away. This is an oil version of a watercolor still life I did about a year ago, I wanted to see how different it was in a different medium. And it's very different! Much more dramatic, less detailed, and bossier. If you're interested in taking oil painting classes / lessons in the Atlanta area, check out my classes at the Cumming Hobby Lobby! I teach oils on Mondays 10-12, Wednesdays 1-3, and Fridays from 1:30 to 3:30. Check susankennedy.com for more details. I'd love to see you there! Just hang out and watch for free your first time, or pay $20 to participate (assuming there's room in the class, which is a good reason to email or call.)

Beautiful colours, lovely composition and the textures are a delight..............the softness of the rose petals, the smooth sheen of the apple, the facets in the glass and the way the light catches the folds in the fabric.........this really is excellent :o))
