I haven't been on this trail for a couple of years now and REALLY miss it!!! In 2006 the road to this trailhead was washed out and won't be repaired in the near future, if ever. The Carbon River below these pristine mountains looks peaceful in this photo, but in heavy rainfall or snowmelt, this river becomes a dangerous and land-altering torrent of water. The trail went to the Carbon Glacier...something else that I really miss!! The second photo is Mt. Rainier with part of the glacier above the trees. Hopefully someday we will make it back...
