La Plage!

Rapid watercolour sketch of a sunny but windy day on the beach. After the main washes were dry I simply dry brushed the sky and sea`areas. Great fun! Watercolour on paper (125lb) 12 x 16

You capture all the movement and spontaneity of the moment. That is very difficult to do. Each figure is individualized making in a real group portrait of sorts. And all that done on site. . .wow.

Artist Reply: Thanks David. I appreciate your comments. Being in France always wakes up those ideas that have been lying dormant in my brain for ages. A couple of trips to the beach at St Rochelle became the trigger for my latest Children at play series. I'm very interested in the action of the figures. Artist Reply: Thank you Renata! We were lucky being able to visit the beach when it was sunny. It's been raining ever since here in France. Luckily I did quite a few sketches!
