Hillside on Fire

A couple of weeks ago, my hubby and I hiked to Summit Lake ... see postings a few photos back. We were too early for the fall colors then, so here are the fall colors on a hike that our daughter and I were on in Oct. 2003. Just before getting to the parking lot where the trail starts, we passed beneath this rock fall covered in brilliant fall splendor. We HAD to stop to take the shot. Two years ago the road was closed for almost the whole summer as this section was buried in another landslide. Last month was the first time since then that I have hiked this trail. The road thru there was still a bit scary. The second shot is the hillside taken from the parking lot. You can see a little bit of the road just below the gray rocks.
