Winter Discovery

Poem I wrote: After winter comes spring, After rain comes shine. Life is full of endless possibilities Discover positive perspectives… to your problems, to your frustrations, to your obstacles. Find the gem that lies beneath the trash, Find the good that is buried within all that. Go on a journey to Winter Discovery ____________________________________________ About the drawing, I needed and wanted to do something related to winter, but at the same time, i want myself to be able to relate to this drawing and my idea. I have never experienced winter infront of my, in real-life before, therefore, the concept is a person discovering winter for the 1st time. I've heard there are good and negative things that happen relating to winter the weather. But i wanted to create something positive. I drew the girl in a way as though she saw and experienced winter for the 1st time, i wanted to express how i would feel through the emotions i conveyed into this drawing. For the girl, i used a reference from my sister's magazine. It is an asian lady for a skin ad or article picture. I enlarged her eyes, changed it's positioning and changed it's colour, so i think it made her look like a mix in this drawing. In the reference, her hair is pulled back, so i have to create hair through my memory (understanding) and imagination. i have always been fascinated about luminous things even till now, i like how sometimes lights or glowing things has a slight fantasy feel to it. So i added flowing snowflakes with sparkles coming out of her hair over the dark background. Time: over 30hours Medium: Colour pencil and pencil on A3 paper
