ARTISTS PROFILE

I grew up in a household where art was encouraged. My father was a cinematographer for the State of Montana and my mother was a former teacher. Together they provided us with a love of art and an “art cupboard” filled with paper, pencils, and paint.

As a child I watched in delight as local potters transformed clay into beautiful shapes. Thoroughly .inspired, I experimented throwing pots using a phonograph for a potter’s wheel. The experience didn’t go quite as planned, but the the love of working in clay remained.

After earning a degree in Fine Art from Montana State University I married my best friend and fellow art major. Life stayed busy raising a family, collaborating on several books with my husband, a children’s book illustrator, and experimenting in art. My current work has been inspired by that early love of clay and a lifelong fascination with faces.

I began exhibiting in juried shows in 2001 and have since been in numerous exhibitions throughout the country, including the National Sculpture Society’s 70th and 74th Annual Award Exhibitions in New York, as well as being a four year participant in Loveland Colorado’s “Sculpture in the Park”.

I am a member of the Allied Artists of America and an associate member of the National Sculpture Society.
