Re: Christian poems?

I would just like to ask if the members of this group could post a poem of encouragement. One poem per member?

Hi Evelyn, do you know any religious poems?

I would love to read them!

Evelyn Simon 02 Aug 2008

Yes, I have published poems online at www.authorsden.com/evelynosimon

I write Christian poems, too. Here is one:

"I Was There"

For all of the times you thought that no one cared I was there. Were you even aware? Draw close to Me, and feel the Breath of My Spirit's touch, My Arms are longingly outstretched. My child, I love you so much.

Through the sudden break in the clouds I broke forth in the sunlight That shone warmly on your face. I Am with you in joy and sorrow. I Am your today and all of your tomorrows. I have saved you by My Grace.

You cannot imagine what I have planned For those who belong to me. Though times are difficult And trials invade your soul I died, and arose to make you whole.

I broke the chains that held you. I took their power away. I invaded hell, and set the captives free. I will never leave you, or forget you. I Am coming back to get you one day. Child, do not take your eyes off of me.

This is one of my poems that I am very proud to have been inspired to write.

The Witness

A poem

I nudged my way through the crowd, I heard men and women shout aloud. “Crucify him!”

I stretched my neck as I stood on my tiptoes. Another shout arose. “Who will you choose? Barabbas, or Jesus, king of the Jews?” The chant from the crowd of Barabbas’s name filled the air, While in the midst, the badly-beaten Jesus, just stood there.

The Roman soldiers took Jesus away, The people had made their choice; there was nothing left to say. At the site where He was crucified, His followers hung their heads and cried.

A long steel nail was placed in the palm of His hand, The soldier drove it in upon command. A tall man blocked my view, As the crowd pushed their way through. The soldiers hoist the large cross, into a hole in the ground; It created a thump of a sound. Blood from the crown of thorns fell into His eyes, just as He looked up at the sky. He called to His father God with authority. He looked down at His mother, Mary. “It is finished,” He said. The next minute, He was dead. A travail of cries echoed the air, The soldiers gambled for His robe without a care.

I pushed my way through. A man stopped me and asked, “Are you a Jew?” I pulled away and said, “Please, please, I have to see this man who died on Calvary!” I looked upon Him, so frail and drawn. I whispered, “Is He really gone?” I heard him speak inside my mind, “On the third day, I will rise, Believe in me, for when you die you too will live again.” © 2008. By, Evelyn O. "God's Gift"

I had a dream just last night Of a man I thought I knew His whole frame was caught in white Was not sure what to do Crown of thorns upon his head Stepping down from off his cross His hands and feet traced in red My lips are still at a loss "I prayed, I cried I lived, I died I rose, I loved I saved through blood" Never asked for a savior But He chose to give His life Don't know what He did it for To suffer this pain and strife He looked toward me with pride That I'd see it was foreplanned Then I looked at Him and cried "I still don't understand!" "I prayed, I cried I lived, I died I rose, I loved I saved through blood" "Let those wih ears hear... Let those with eyes see..." Then he calmed my tears And drew close to me And then a present He layed Right on the ground at my feet I saw the price has been paid For a debt I could not meet "In the time you choose To unwrap your gift The devil will lose Your soul I will lift" I slowly untied the bow And dropped it to the ground Everything I didn't know Was exactly what I found "I prayed for you. I cried for you. I lived for you. I died for you. I rose for you. I loved for you. And I have saved you through my blood"

Hope ya'll like it. Any suggestions let me know.

LOL, I don't know why it looks like that... It reads better in poem format.
