"An Artist Arts"

Long have I wondered as I doodled,sketched,and drew "To become a REAL artist what exactly must I do?" I've no fancy degree no talented mentor,no big gallery showing, no rich benefactor. Shall I move to an old drafty loft? Eat cold food from tin cans? Paint dark brooding figures with six eyes and three hands? I really must confess right here that none of this appealed. But yet the question still remained: "How do I become an artist for real?" Then one day it came to me so simple and so clear. The solution to my problem is what you see right here. My art is here for all to see not for vanity or fame. But simply so that I can write the word "artist" after my name. Good or bad as my art may be I know this in my heart...a writer writes...a builder builds...and an artist, simply, arts. --Kathy Daher
